Evans will take up the five-year appointment on 17 February. He replaces Greg Parker, who was appointed as a Supreme Court judge and the inaugural president of the South Australian Civil and Administrative Tribunal in November last year.

Law Society of SA president Morry Bailes congratulated Evans on his appointment, describing the QC as one of the state’s “preeminent barristers”.

Evans, who has more than 30 years experience in both the public and private sectors, served on the Law Society’s Council from 2007 to 2009 and was previously a member of the Law Society’s Justice Access Committee. He is also a committee member of the SA Bar Association.

The announcement on Thursday (23 January) followed an extensive selection process, chaired by Attorney-General’s Department Chief Executive Rick Persse, after a national call for applications.
