Doherty (pictured) joins mdp from Chrysiliou Lawyers, where his role was to protect the inventions of Australian and international clients.

He has also developed and managed intellectual property portfolios of international companies like Cochlear and Orbital Engine Company.

mdp managing partner Michael McDonald said the firm’s focus on tax and risk structuring of an inventor’s ownership entity, and advice on international licensing and helping companies go offshore is a good fit for Doherty’s skill set.

Doherty has almost 20 years’ experience in international patent applications from a regulatory and commercial point of view.
