Hinze (pictured) was previously a partner in the Shanghai office of US-based firm Dorsey & Whitney LLP.

Hinze lived in China for 10 years, working in both the law and investment banking, before moving back to Brisbane this year. He is fluent in Mandarin and has a PhD in Chinese culture.

In taking the role at Holding Redlich, Hinze said he was attracted to the firm’s culture.

Holding Redlich’s national managing partner, Chris Lovell, commented that Hinze’s overseas experience would provide a significant boost to the firm’s China practice.

Holding Redlich recently lost two practice heads to UK-based firm Holman Fenwick Willan, Lawyers Weekly exclusively reported last week (10 October).

The firm also lost a planning, environment & government partner to HWL Ebsworth in June.

However, Holding Redlich has also recruited a number of partners in 2014, including three partners for its national transport practice group, and a corporate partner from Henry Davis York.
