She replaces outgoing CEO, Stephen Hare, who has been in the role for seven years.
Fregon worked in private practice prior to joining the Victorian Bar in 2001. After eight years at the Bar, she moved in-house, accepting a general counsel role with Endota Spa.
The appointment takes effect in March.
Commenting on the important issues facing Victorian barristers, Fregon said, “What we need to do is continue to show how our skills extend beyond representing our clients in court, and that we provide a variety of advice, conciliation and professional negotiation skills which serve our clients, the community and justice system well.”
The Victorian Bar has around 2,000 members.
