Velocity Legal has strengthened its family law offering with the appointment of an accredited family law specialist with more than a decade of exclusive practice in the area.
Victoria Kilby has joined specialised boutique law firm, Velocity Legal, following two years as a director at Farrar Gesini Dunn, and five years as special counsel at Coote Family Lawyers.
The appointment comes after senior commercial lawyer Robert Osler was promoted internally to director in late July.
Kilby advises clients on property settlements, binding financial agreements, spousal maintenance, parenting matters and other family law issues, with particular expertise in complex financial disputes involving businesses, companies, trusts and significant asset holdings.
Her background in commercial litigation and corporate advisory complements her family law practice, allowing her to navigate the business and financial structures that often arise in sophisticated property matters.
Bringing extensive litigation experience, Kilby holds a prominent focus on achieving practical outcomes for clients, be it through strategic negotiation, alternative dispute resolution or robust courtroom advocacy.
Velocity Legal managing director, Andrew Henshaw, highlighted that Kilby’s appointment would bolster the firm’s family law opportunities for clients that require a variety of legal needs.
“Victoria brings specialist expertise to the most complex financial matters, but she also understands that every family law matter carries its own pressures and consequences,” Henshaw said.
“She gives clients direct, practical advice and shapes her approach around what each person needs to achieve.
“That combination of specialist knowledge, sound judgement and genuine care makes her an excellent fit for our firm.
“We are very pleased to have her leading the team.”
The appointment looks to expand Velocity Legal’s ability to assist individuals and families throughout all stages of a separation, from initial advice and negotiated agreements, to complex litigation.
