Former justice of the High Court of Australia, The Honourable Michael Kirby AC CMG, delivered the keynote address at a luncheon hosted at Dockside in the Sydney CBD. Comedian Mark Trevorrow, performing under his alter ego “Bob Downe”, was the master of ceremonies.

The awards program was split into three categories: global firms, national firms and boutique firms.

An Excellence Award, presented to the law firm that scored highest on all criteria, as determined by Lawyers Weekly’s panel of independent judges, was also bestowed.

Reflecting on the event, Lawyers Weekly deputy editor Jerome Doraisamy said it is hugely important for initiatives that acknowledge and celebrate pushes for progress in the workplace to continue and not be outliers.

“As has been said many times before, the legal profession has come a long way, but we still had a way to go in advancing diversity and inclusion, in its myriad forms. Lawyers Weekly is honoured to contribute, even if only in an incremental fashion, to the ongoing efforts on this front and we will continue to help drive such conversations,” he said.
