Mindaugas “Gus” Skavronskas (pictured) has joined McCabes in its intellectual property group.

He brings two decades of experience, advising in relation to IP issues and leading teams on “hundreds” of merger and acquisition transactions, McCabes said in a statement.

“[Mr] Skavronskas’ competence lies within advisory/commercialisation, and transactional and contentious aspects of intellectual property and consumer law, with a focus on advising large and mega-corporations and the Commonwealth and state governments,” the firm noted.

Mr Skavronskas has joined the firm from Norton Rose Fulbright, where he was a special counsel.

The news follows the firm’s promotion of 13 lawyers to more senior positions in late June, as well as its appointment of its eighth principal in 2023, in mid-June.

McCabes managing principal Andrew Lacey said that the appointment of Mr Skavronskas is a “strategic move to expand the firm’s IP capabilities”.

“Gus brings with him an outstanding level of expertise to McCabes, and I expect that he will make an immediate impact in strengthening the IP group,” he said.

“The commercial division consistently attains high results for our clients, and the appointment of highly skilled practitioners is a significant step in proactively adding value to the division and, by extension, the rest of the firm.”
