National law firm Gilbert + Tobin has strengthened its energy, resources, and infrastructure practice with the appointment of a partner.
Jamie Guthrie (pictured) has been named as a new partner at Gilbert + Tobin within the firm’s energy, resources and infrastructure practice group, based in the firm’s Sydney office.
This news follows the national law firm’s promotion of three to partnership and 10 to special counsel as part of its mid-year promotions round in mid-June.
He brings over 13 years of knowledge, advising on the financing and development of significant energy and infrastructure projects.
Guthrie brings a wealth of experience from his time at leading national law firms, having previously served as an associate at MinterEllison and progressing from senior associate to managing associate at Allens. His career also includes international roles in London and São Paulo.
In a statement, the national law firm noted that Guthrie has advised a broad range of stakeholders, including sponsors, financiers, and government bodies, on complex transactions involving utility-scale renewable energy projects.
Gilbert + Tobin’s founder and chairman, Danny Gilbert, said Guthrie’s skills would enhance the firm’s ability to support significant projects across the country.
“Jamie’s expertise in financing complex energy transition projects will be a clear advantage for our clients. His appointment adds real strength to our energy, resources and infrastructure team as we continue to help deliver transformative projects across Australia,” Gilbert said.
Speaking about his appointment, Guthrie conveyed his enthusiasm for the role and his goals moving forward.
“Navigating the journey to net zero is one of the defining challenges of our generation. I’m thrilled to be joining an exceptional team supporting clients at the forefront of the energy transition,” Guthrie said.
