Lawyers Weekly has secured a major addition to its upcoming UK Study Tour, announcing that former Manchester United CEO Patrick Stewart will join the program to deliver exclusive leadership sessions for Australian law firm partners attending.

The appointment marks a significant coup for the tour, which is limited to just 50 senior partners from across Australia and designed to provide an intensive leadership and strategy experience inside one of the world’s most influential legal markets.

Stewart served as chief executive of Manchester United: one of the most commercially powerful and globally recognised sporting organisations in the world, overseeing operations across an organisation with an estimated 1.1 billion supporters globally, a New York Stock Exchange listing, and commercial operations that dwarf virtually every other sporting organisation on earth.

During the program, Stewart will speak directly with Australian legal leaders about governance and decision making under global scrutiny, organisational leadership at scale, and managing complex stakeholder pressure in highly visible environments – lessons with direct relevance for senior law firm leaders navigating increasingly complex firms and markets.

The session is expected to be one of the headline moments of the UK Study Tour, which will also feature behind-the-scenes access to leading UK institutions and discussions with senior figures across business, sport, and the legal profession.

Lawyers Weekly managing editor Jerome Doraisamy said securing Stewart highlights the calibre of speakers being assembled for the tour.

“This is exactly the type of global leadership insight we wanted to bring to Australian partners,” Doraisamy said.

“Running one of the most recognised sporting organisations in the world requires leadership under intense scrutiny, and there are powerful lessons in that for senior law firm leaders navigating increasingly complex firms and markets.”

Stewart joins a speaker program that already includes partners from Allen & Overy Shearman, Clifford Chance, CMS, Simmons & Simmons, and Hogan Lovells, and general counsel from Eversheds Sutherland, the Jamie Oliver Group and Vitality.

The Lawyers Weekly UK Study Tour takes place from 26 to 29 May 2026 in London and is designed specifically for senior partners and firm leaders looking to step outside the day-to-day pressures of practice and engage with international perspectives on leadership, strategy, and what Australian legal leaders can learn from how the UK’s top firms and businesses are embracing AI. With attendance capped at 50 participants, places are strictly limited and expected to fill quickly following this announcement.
