Lawyers Weekly and principal partner LawUno are delighted to announce the winners of this year’s Australian Law Awards.
The 26th annual Australian Law Awards gala ceremony was held tonight (Thursday, 30 July) at The Star, Sydney, to recognise the top-performing legal professionals and law firms across Australia.
A total of 36 winners, plus one Excellence Award winner, were selected from the 330 finalists, who were drawn from a record 1,206 submissions.
This year, the coveted award was given to Darren Mort, from the Victorian Bar, after he took out the Barrister of the Year category earlier in the evening.

This national awards program identifies the leading partners, barristers, general counsel, and in-house lawyers, as well as mentors, sole practitioners, and rising stars. Law firms, legal teams, and insurance teams were also celebrated, alongside firms with premier pro bono programs and wellness initiatives.
Winners in the individual categories included representatives from Bartier Perry, Westpac Banking Corporation, JurisTechne, Deloitte Australia, the Fred Hollows Foundation, and Ashurst Perkins Coie. Companies or organisations that took home trophies include Maddocks, Nine Entertainment Co, Moray & Agnew, the Indonesian Community of Lawyers in Australia, and Hall & Wilcox.
For more than a quarter of a century, this prestigious awards program has championed dedicated legal professionals who have achieved optimal results for clients while establishing their reputation for excellence.
Approximately 950 members of Australia’s legal profession gathered at this year’s gala ceremony to celebrate the success of their colleagues and to network with profession leaders and peers.
Australian comedian Mark Humphries performed emcee duties, providing light and laughter throughout the evening.
The judging criteria for award categories were both quantitative and qualitative, acknowledging growth, business development, diversity, leadership, innovation, business excellence, and contribution to Australia’s legal profession.
Speaking about the awards, Lawyers Weekly managing editor Jerome Doraisamy said it was an honour to host the Australian Law Awards, noting the program is the nation’s biggest and most prestigious celebration of legal excellence.
“This was the 26th annual Australian Law Awards, and it is remarkable to reflect on how much the profession has evolved over the past quarter century,” he said.
“The individuals and firms recognised tonight are leading the way through ongoing professional, technological, environmental, and sociocultural change, shaping the future of Australia’s legal profession.
“Congratulations to all of this year’s finalists and winners. We were delighted to celebrate your achievements with you.”
