Corporate Counsel Awards 2020

There is still time to have deserving in-house lawyers and legal teams recognised at Lawyers Weekly’s annual Corporate Counsel Awards, with submissions closing next week.

The Corporate Counsel Awards, in partnership with LOD, recognises in-house lawyers and legal teams who are going above and beyond for their respective businesses.

The awards has fast become the benchmark of success for corporate counsel, endorsed by lawyers across the board.

“I was very humbled to be nominated, let alone win the inaugural Lawyers Weekly Not-for-Profit Lawyer of the Year award at the ‘Oscars’ of the legal profession, especially given the outstanding calibre of the finalists. What an incredible night!” said general counsel Katrin O’Sullivan, following her win at last year’s event.

“When I was growing up in East Berlin, surrounded by walls, the human rights of our entire nation were repressed, so it was illegal even to travel without permission. I couldn’t dare to dream that I would have a career in international humanitarian work that would take me all over the world.

“It was inconceivable that I would end up becoming an Australian citizen and winning such a prestigious award on the other side of the world. My career has given me many extraordinary experiences but one of the greatest highlights so far would have to be being named as the inaugural Lawyers Weekly Not-for-Profit Lawyer of the Year!”

Submissions for this year’s Corporate Counsel Awards close Monday, 13 January 2020 with winners to be announced at a sit-down dinner at Sydney’s Hyatt Regency on Friday, 20 March 2020.

“The Corporate Counsel Awards is the pinnacle event for Australian in-house lawyers and legal teams,” said editor of Lawyers Weekly Emma Ryan.

“With such strong competition among them, the awards [recognises] individual and group achievements for counsel not only making a concentrated effort to put their business in the best position, but are excelling in their roles by helping it soar to greater heights.”
