Most recently, Ms Ivanoff was the group general counsel with Crown Resorts, meaning — Mr Cooke wrote — that she “has firsthand experience with transformative initiatives and programs”.

The appointment, he proclaimed, “is another important step in making The Star safer and stronger while earning back the trust and confidence of our team, guests, communities and regulators”.

“Betty is an accomplished lawyer and executive with more than 20 years’ experience in ASX-listed companies and international organisations,” he said.

Prior to joining Crown Resorts, Ms Ivanoff was the group director of legal and corporate affairs at Coca-Cola Amatil Limited, at which she led the legal, governance and corporate affairs teams.

Whilst in that role, she appeared on The Corporate Counsel Show to discuss how to build a successful in-house team and the features of a successful in-house team.
