Melbourne mega-tower gets the green light

An Australian firm has advised UEM Sunrise on its maiden property development in Australia.

Deal significance: The construction of Aurora Melbourne Central is set to begin at 224-250 LaTrobe Street. The tower will be 92 levels and will include more than 900 apartments and service apartments.

The project is by UEM Sunrise, a wholly owned subsidiary of Khazanah – the investment arm of the Malaysian government.

Thomson Geer provided UEM Sunrise due diligence and legal advisory services throughout the course of the project, which began in August 2013.

Thomson Geer property partner Eu Ming Lim worked with UEM Sunrise throughout the acquisition, provided advice on various aspects of the development with various authorities and interest groups, and the ongoing property work for the 900-plus apartments and service apartments.
