Kapp was previously a partner and head of private equity at Clayton Utz. He has also established and led the national private equity practice of another top-tier law firm and was the founding and Managing Partner of a leading corporate law firm.

Roll on Friday reports Kapp slammed the global business model being followed by many Australian law firms. He said “it doesn’t work”.

He said: "Trust me... it's really attractive for leading US and UK firms to have independent counsel in Australia that don't compete with them in Hong Kong".

He added: “Frankly, the global law firm just [doesn't] work... I spent six or seven years travelling around the world trying to create a global law firm and I know [they]'re flawed".

Corrs said Kapp has been involved in almost every major private equity transaction in the country since 2000. He has experience advising Australia's largest public companies on M&A, corporate restructurings, joint ventures and capital raisings.

He joins Corrs this week as senior member of the private equity team based in Sydney.
