Kennedys has appointed Laura Koller (pictured) as its new chief financial officer, a role she will undertake from the firm’s New Jersey office.

The news follows the firm’s recent promotion of 21 lawyers to partner across its global offices, including one in its Perth practice earlier this May.

In her new role, Kennedys explained that Koller will lead the firm’s global financial strategy, focusing on driving sustainable growth and maintaining fiscal responsibility.

She will collaborate closely with senior leadership, including the executive group and business services chiefs, to achieve these goals.

Before assuming this role, Koller spent six years with Kennedys, most recently serving as finance director for the firm’s 12 US offices.

In a statement, the global law firm highlighted that Koller brings over 20 years of experience in the securities industry to her role as CFO, with a background spanning finance, risk, operations, and leadership, further enriched by formal training and professional experience in counselling psychology.

Global managing partner Meg Catalano highlighted that Koller’s appointment follows her valuable contributions to enhancing the firm’s operations, and she is confident Koller will be a vital asset in her new role.

“Laura has already made significant contributions to improving our operational functions, and we are confident she will be a vital asset as we continue to execute our strategic objectives. Building our business services functions has been a critical pathway to a more strategic approach to our firm’s growth,” Catalano said.

Senior partner John Bruce echoed that sentiment, highlighting the decision to promote from within as a reflection of the firm’s values.

“Laura’s extensive experience within Kennedys, combined with a deep understanding and appreciation of our firm’s culture, uniquely positions her to drive our financial strategy forward. Promoting talent from within underscores our commitment to nurturing leadership that is fully aligned with our values and vision,” Bruce said.

Speaking about her new role, Koller expressed enthusiasm for contributing to the firm’s refreshed global direction under its new leadership.

“Kennedys is an incredibly exciting firm to be a part of, particularly now as we embark on the renewed global strategic direction under our new leadership. I am looking forward to my contribution in helping build a future-fit firm alongside my colleagues around the world,” Koller said.
