In a statement, the firm said: “Rosie is a highly experienced and well-regarded practitioner in the NSW workers’ compensation market, known for her strategic litigation expertise and her ability to deliver commercially focused outcomes for insurer clients.”

Her experience spans “managing complex claims involving catastrophic injuries, psychological harm, and multi-party disputes”, the firm said.

Hall & Wilcox chief executive partner Graydon Dowd said Petrolo’s experience and contacts are valuable to the firm’s clients and for the Newcastle market.

He added: “Rosie is a motivated and well-respected practitioner with a proven track record, who will add depth to our current team and open opportunities for further growth. Her energy, enthusiasm and alignment with our culture and hallmarks make her a welcome addition to the firm.”

Petrolo said: “I’m proud to be part of a firm that values collaboration, innovation and genuine client care.”

“The opportunity to work alongside a talented team and support our insurer clients with strategic, commercially focused solutions – particularly in the Newcastle market – is incredibly exciting.”

This appointment is the latest in numerous recent movements within and to the company over the past year.

Promotions and new appointments were among these, with 11 new partners, 22 new special counsel, 27 new senior associates and 16 promoted in its senior corporate services team, according to a story by Lawyers Weekly back in June.

Also covered by Lawyers Weekly earlier this year, Hall & Wilcox welcomed the former managing partner of Hogan Lovells, Scott Harris, to the team after the global firm ceased its Australian operations last year.

Its expansions over the past year included growth in their public sector, defence and insurance teams, just to name a few.

Petrolo expressed her excitement in joining the team: “I’m thrilled to join Hall & Wilcox and contribute to the firm’s outstanding workers’ compensation offering.”
