Prior to joining the firm, Higgins served as a partner at Mills Oakley for nine years. Over his career, Higgins dealt with complex issues in major commercial, large-scale residential and infrastructure projects.

Higgins has expertise in strategic claims management and dispute resolution and is highly sought after for his “deep knowledge of regulatory dynamics and his ability to develop solutions in high-stakes disputes”, the firm said.

He will be based in the firm’s Sydney office.

Damien Clarke, joint managing partner at the firm, said Higgins’ appointment is exciting and that the firm’s clients will benefit from Higgins’ anticipation of client needs and alignment of legal strategies with commercial outcomes.

“His appointment also marks an important milestone for our Sydney office, which is now home to 30 per cent of our partners,” Clarke said.

The firm continues to expand its Sydney offering, the firm’s chair of partners, Kristan Conlon, added. She was delighted to welcome Higgins, remarking that he would be a “great cultural fit” for the team.

“Scott is a highly regarded leader within the construction and infrastructure space and known for his ability to build high-performing teams and a culture of excellence,” Conlon said

This appointment follows other news from the firm, including the acquisition of Ashurst global co-head of tax practice in October, the appointment of a Gilbert + Tobin partner in late and mid-August, and the addition of 12 new partners in June.
