The Australian Digital Technology Awards – a targeted submission-based awards program produced by Momentum Media, and underpinned by industry-wide brand performance research – was hosted for the first time on Tuesday, 18 May 2021.

The awards program recognised digital technology companies that are providing outstanding outcomes for a range of businesses, with a focus on mortgages (mortgage and finance brokers), law (lawyers, solicitors and corporate counsel), wealth and SMSF (financial advisers and planners and SMSF advisers) accounting (accountants, bookkeepers, CFOs and corporate accountants) and real estate (real estate agents, property managers and principals).

The methodology for the ranking was based on 20 per cent of results from a survey that was conducted from December through February that measured the usage, awareness, consideration, customer impact score and net promoter score for each company, and 80 per cent based on written submissions. The two scores were weighted accordingly to create the ranking.

In the legal profession, the winners of the Established, Mid-Range and Start-Up categories were as follows:

  • Established: LEAP Legal Software (weighted score of 72.49 per cent).
  • Mid-Range: LodgeX Pty Ltd (68.05 per cent).
  • Start-Up: triSearch (62.00 per cent).
In the Established category, there was just 4 per cent difference in the weighted scores between first place and sixth: following the winning nomination from LEAP were LawMaster (69.49 per cent), LexisNexis Legal Analytics ASIC Analyser (69.39 per cent), JADE (69.23 per cent), FilePro (69.16 per cent) and InfoTrack Pty Ltd (68.22 per cent).

Reflecting on the results, Lawyers Weekly deputy editor Jerome Doraisamy said it was fantastic to see not only such interest in these inaugural awards from Australia’s LegalTech community, but also such fierce competition at the pointy end.

“If the work of Australia’s LegalTech community is anything to go by, then our legal profession is in safe hands moving forward into a post-pandemic world,” he proclaimed.

“It’s thrilling to see such excellence across the board with technological platforms and processes supporting lawyers, legal teams and law firms. Congratulations to all of the winners and finalists – not just in law, but in all professional services industries.”
