Lander & Rogers has recruited a team of prominent M&A and capital markets partners, who join the Sydney corporate practice from big four firm KPMG Law.

The four-person team is led by David Morris, who founded the commercial law practice of KPMG Law. He was also the head of its M&A and corporate practice, joint leader of KPMG’s global legal services M&A and corporate group, and a member of KPMG’s global legal services leadership team.

Mr Morris will lead Lander & Rogers’ Sydney corporate team and brings with him decades of experience in building corporate practices. Joining Mr Morris are senior corporate lawyers Paul Mayson, David Tink and Bree Taylor.

Chief executive partner Genevieve Collins said that the team would play an integral role in implementing the firm’s aggressive growth plans for its Sydney office.

Sydney is a key market for our clients, and there has been explosive growth in the volume and quality of corporate work we have been asked to undertake for our clients. We are delighted that David Morris, Paul Mayson, David Tink and Bree Taylor have joined us,” she said.

“The team’s appointment illustrates our firm’s strong commitment to growing our footprint in Sydney and is in direct response to the increasing needs of our clients for complex transactional support. David and his team represent another important step in growing our corporate practice, not only in Sydney but nationally.

David Morris is recognised as a leading corporate lawyer, particularly in cross-border transactions between Australia and the US, and has led some of the region’s largest and most complex matters during his career. This depth of knowledge and expertise will be of significant benefit to our clients and David’s extensive leadership experience will also be invaluable to the firm as we embark on the next stage of our growth.”

Mr Morris said that his team was attracted to Lander & Rogers by the firm’s renowned culture of inclusion, its strong focus on building long-term client relationships, its clear growth strategy and its ability to be innovative and nimble in response to the constantly evolving needs of clients

Lander & Rogers has been one of the fastest growing firms in the Australian market in recent years and we are really excited to play an active role in the next stage of its growth journey, he said.

This news follows the appointment of former Coles managing director John Durkan to the firm’s board in October 2021, after the firm was named to be the most sought-after law firm to work at in Victoria in the Lawyers Weekly annual Top 25 Attraction Firms ranking.
