Kam is an accredited specialist in family law and was previously at an independent law firm, Jackson McDonald. She has advised domestic and international clients in both family and relationship law matters, acting on complex property settlements, trusts, corporate structures, inheritances, and business valuations.

In addition, Kam has worked with sensitive parenting disputes, including international relocation and child recovery matters, along with a strategic approach to safeguarding generational wealth.

Kam will join the firm’s family and relationship law practice, working alongside Perth partner John Lawley within a team of 12 legal practitioners. She will also work as part of a broader Perth office of 40 professionals across multiple disciplines.

Further, Kam will work with Tim Scanlan and Geoff Wilson in supporting the firm’s broader private client strategy in acting for business owners, philanthropists, individuals, and families with complex legal and financial affairs.

In a statement, HopgoodGanim managing partner Luke Mountford said the team is delighted to welcome Kam to the firm. “Her appointment reflects the firm’s continued investment in building a market-leading family law practice in Perth,” Mountford added.

Mountford said Kam’s appointment was a deliberate and exciting move by the firm and that Kam’s experience and reputation make her the “perfect fit” for the role.

In a statement, Kam said she has seen the strong reputation that the firm has built and its focus on supporting the complex needs of individuals and families, and is “excited to be joining a team so committed to excellence in this space”.

This appointment follows other news at the firm, including its appointment of a new estates and succession partner in September, its promotion of 27 in August, its appointment of a new workplace partner in May, its appointment of a new partner and special counsel in April, its acquisition of two from Holding Redlich in March, and its acquisition of eight from Corrs Chambers Westgarth in February.
