Kate Walawski (pictured) has joined Dentons, bringing over 15 years of experience in workplace relations, employment, and safety law, specialising in advisory services; litigation and dispute resolution; investigations; compliance and risk management; and training and education.

Most recently, she was a principal at Cullen Macleod Lawyers, and prior to that, she worked as a barrister and consultant.

She is, the firm said, “highly regarded” for her unique ability to quickly assess risk, cut through complexity and deliver commercially astute advice.

The appointment means that Dentons’ employment and safety practice now operates nationally.

The news follows the firm’s hiring of the head of pro bono at Colin Biggers & Paisley in mid-July, its promotion of 18 lawyers (including three to partner) in the same month, and its poaching of an employment team from Deloitte Legal, also in July.

Speaking about the appointment, Dentons Australia chair and Australasia regional chief executive Amber Warren said: “Kate is an important strategic appointment, with our employment and safety team now offering a national presence.

“Clients can now benefit from seamless legal advice from our experienced national team, regardless of where they do business.”

Partner Nick Linke, who heads the Australian employment and safety team, said: “Our team is very excited to welcome Kate. Our clients will benefit greatly from her invaluable experience.”

Walawski said: “Dentons’ commitment to legal excellence and community resonate very strongly with me.

“I’m looking forward to growing the employment and safety practice in Perth, and the national and international opportunities being part of the world’s largest global law firm will bring my clients.”
