Lawyers Weekly and principal partner Lawyers on Demand (LOD) and Consilio are thrilled to unveil over 30 winners for the 9th annual Corporate Counsel Awards.
The Corporate Counsel Awards was held tonight (Thursday, 8 May) at The Star in Sydney to celebrate the outstanding achievements of Australia’s in-house counsel throughout the last year.
A total of 34 winners were selected from 194 finalists across more than 30 submission-based categories, with the highest-scoring individual winner receiving the coveted Excellence Award.
This year, the Excellence Award was given to Joshua Caeiro of Rio Tinto, after he also won Legal Operations Professional of the Year and Construction and Real Estate Lawyer of the Year earlier in the evening.

Some of the individual winners included professionals from Canva, The Fred Hollows Foundation, and Mastercard. Companies honoured in the group category included Chemist Warehouse, Cbus Super, and Jones Lang LaSalle.
Winning one of the coveted Corporate Counsel Awards is a prestigious accolade that can enhance professional credibility on a national scale for both individuals and businesses.
Australian comedian Mark Humphries assumed emcee duties at the awards ceremony and provided entertainment and laughter throughout the evening.
The ceremony also provided a unique opportunity to network with industry leaders, peers, and rising stars across the in-house counsel community.
Running for more than a decade, the Corporate Counsel Awards has become the benchmark for excellence for Australia’s corporate counsel. The unrivalled program acknowledges in-house counsel across the breadth of the profession, including insurance, healthcare, defence, real estate, education, travel, sport, transport, not-for-profit, and beyond.
The winners were selected using robust judging criteria that are both quantitative and qualitative. The judging criteria acknowledge growth, business development, diversity, leadership, innovation, business excellence, and contribution to Australia’s legal sector.
Lawyers Weekly managing editor Jerome Doraisamy congratulated the finalists and winners: “It gives us great pleasure to celebrate the achievements of in-house lawyers across the country.
“Together with our longstanding principal partners, LOD and Consilio, the Corporate Counsel Awards has become one of the biggest and best celebrations of corporate legal talent nationwide. Nights like this are our way of recognising their hard work and dedication.
“We can’t wait to do it all again next year – the 10th annual awards will be something to behold!”
